I Student Data Security Policy I
In order to operate efficiently and provide the best offerings to our potential and existing students, Kings English collects and maintains various kinds of data at various stages of our operation. Because Kings English is concerned with maintaining the privacy and security of our students, we have formulated our Student Data Security Policy to clearly outline the types of data we collect, the means we use to collect them, the uses to which the data will be put (including the sharing and/or sale of such data to parties other than Kings English and/or its nominated representatives) and the storage and maintenance of the data.
Types of Data
The types of data King's English and/or its nominated representatives may collect, create and/or maintain fall into two broad categories:
|
•
|
Non-personally-identifiable Data
This type of data refers to any kind of information that does not reveal the specific personal identity of potential, existing and/or former students. An example would be statistical information.
|
| • |
Personally-identifiable Data
This type of data refers to any kind of information that reveals the specific personal identity of a potential, existing and/or former student. Examples would include single units of information such as the name of a student or any other combination two or more units of information that could reasonably be used to extrapolate the specific personal identity of a potential, existing and/or former student. |
Methods of Data Collection
King's English and/or its nominated representatives may collect all the types of data described in the previous section through activities including, but not limited to, the following:
|
•
|
Marketing
This category refers to all paid and unpaid activities to research and communicate with potential, existing and/or former students for the purpose of the selling and/or designing of the offerings provided by King's English.
|
| • |
Recruitment
This category refers to all activities related to student application, registration and admission.
|
| • |
Provision of Service
This category refers to all activities associated with the normal operation of King's English as an educational service provider. |
Use of Data
All data collected, created and/or maintained through the activities described in the preceding section may be used to:
|
•
|
Ensure the quality and efficient rendering of services and offerings by King's English and/or its nominated representatives
|
| • |
Facilitate the smooth business operations of King's English and/or its nominated representatives
|
| • |
Inform King's English and/or its nominated representatives in the design of future marketing and recruitment activities, programmes of study, ancillary services, operational procedures and other related strategic corporate initiatives |
With the submission of a Student Application, prospective and existing students consent that Kings English and/or its nominated representatives may share necessary data of all types (i.e. non-personally-identifiable and personally-identifiable) with other Government agencies or statutory bodies and/or non-government agencies which have been authorised to carry out specific Government services, to process any application or to render a service, unless such sharing is prohibited by legislation. The sharing, sale or distribution of non-personally-identifiable data may occur at the discretion of Kings English and/or its nominated representatives with or without the express permission and/or consent of students, unless such action is prohibited by law.
No personally-identifiable data will be shared, sold, distributed or made available in any other way to any party other than Kings English and/or its nominated representatives without the express consent of a student, unless required by law.
Storage and Maintenance of Data
The data collected by Kings English and/or its nominated representatives may be stored in hard copy or soft copy format in a form to be decided by Kings English and/or its nominated representatives (e.g. statistics, student records, etc.) for as long as Kings English deems necessary.
